Supermodel and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss has visited plant-based startup Beyond Meat - in a bid to learn more about food science.
The visit was part of a tour she has undertaken in a bid to find out more about women working at the forefront of engineering as part of an initiative called STEAM [Science Technology Engineering Art Math].
According to Beyond Meat: "As part of her journey, she dropped by the Beyond Meat HQ to learn how we are revolutionizing the food industry. Kloss sat down with Beyond Meat engineer, Lina Puitt, to discuss how Puitt is helping the company revolutionize the way people consume meat."

Puitt said: "Science is all about creation, and engineering is all about creation too.
"We can make a product that looks like meat, cooks like meat."
Kloss said: "It's like evolved meat. A lot of people don't realize that there is so much science involved in the food industry... Food is science."

Kloss also met with chef Brooke Williamson to discuss how more professional cooks are bringing the product into their kitchens.
She said: "I think [Beyond Meat's creations] touches on so many reasons why red meat is not a necessary component to a menu.
"I've seen partnerships with plant-based products and well-known chefs over the last year more than I've seen over the last 10 years."
