Rock star Meat Loaf believes that teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg has been unwittingly "forced" into propagating a message of environmentalism.
“I feel for that Greta,” said the musician. “She has been brainwashed into thinking that there is climate change, and there isn’t.”
Thunberg saw her fame rise in 2019 as she globe-trotted in boats and planes to relay her belief that humanity is only years away from irreversible climate change. The 17-year-old testified before Congress in September at the behest of House Democrats, and she came in second place in this year's Nobel Peace Prize awards, losing to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
"She hasn’t done anything wrong, but she’s been forced into thinking that what she is saying is true," Meat Loaf told the Daily Mail in a wide-ranging interview.
Meat Loaf, 72, was born in Dallas and is known for his 1977 debut album Bat Out of Hell, which ranks among the highest-selling releases ever with 43 million copies sold worldwide.
This week, leaders around the world warned of pressing environmental dangers after fires in Australia have ravaged the country and killed an estimated 500 million animals, including reptiles, mammals, and birds in the past six months.
