バイデン氏、ゼレンスキー氏と会談支援遅れ謝罪し追加支援表明 - ロイター (Reuters Japan)

［パリ　７日　ロイター］ - バイデン米大統領は７日、パリでウクライナのゼレンスキー大統領と会談した。議会での対立で対ウクライナ支援の実施が遅れたことを謝罪し、２億２５００万ドルの追加軍事支援を表明した。

対面での会談は、ゼレンスキー大統領がワシントンを訪問した昨年１２月以来。両氏は来週、イタリアで開催される主要７カ国（Ｇ７）首脳会議の間に再び会談する予定。

バイデン大統領は会談の冒頭、ゼレンスキー大統領に「あなたは屈服せず、全く譲歩せず、優れた方法で戦い続けている」と述べ、「われわれはあなたがたを見放さない」とした。

対ウクライナ支援法案の審議が議会で難航し実施が遅れたことを謝罪した上で「今も完全に、全面的にウクライナを支援している」とした。

ゼレンスキー大統領は、米国の軍事的、財政的、人道的支援に謝意を示し、「あなたがたがわれわれと共にいてくれることは非常に重要だ。第二次世界大戦中に米国が人命を救い、欧州を救ったように、議会における超党派の支持、米国の全ての人々がウクライナと共にあり続けることが非常に重要だ」と英語で述べた。

バイデン氏は６日、第２次世界大戦のノルマンディー上陸作戦の決行日（Ｄデー）から８０周年を記念する式典で、第二次世界大戦のナチス・ドイツという専制政治との戦いとウクライナのロシアとの戦争を関連付け、ロシアのプーチン大統領を暴君と呼んだ。もっと見る
